Home cooked nutritionally balanced meals using fresh local produce are prepared by our own chef.
For the younger children these can then be pureed/mashed or left as whole pieces to meet individual needs. We encourage self feeding which is supported by the nursery practitioners.
Our score of 5 by environmental health is the highest grade achieveable proving that all meals and snacks are prepared and managed to the highest standard.
Mealtimes are a very important social event. We promote the awareness of sharing and turn-taking and social conduct. Staff sit with the children to eat and through positive role models the children are encouraged to say please and thank you to each other as well as to adults and to use a knife and fork for eating. Independence, making choices and personal hygiene are encouraged by hand washing before and after meals, pouring their own drinks and eating a variety of healthy balanced foods.
We use table cloths and the children have named placemats.
All snacks and meals are nutritionally balanced using local produce. Fresh fruit and vegetables are served daily. We are commitmented to offering a good foundation for general health and welfare.
Drinking water is available at all times throughout the day.
Milk is available for all children to accompany both morning and afternoon snacks.
Menus are on display on the parent's notice board and any special dietary requirements can be catered for.
