Established in 1999 Harpers Nursery School offers care and education for children aged from 6wks to five years for 50wks of the year open Monday to Friday 07.30am to 18.30pm. We are situated in Station Road, BLUNHAM which is a picturesque village location just one mile from the Al, two miles from Sandy and just six miles from Biggleswade. Set in acres of ground with ponies and pheasants for scenery, the children have vast opportunity to discover the countryside and enjoy many outdoor activities.
We are governed and inspected by OFSTED from whom we have achieved a grade of OUTSTANDING in our last three inspections in ALL 17 areas of Care and Education. (Last inspection April 2011)
Being a hands on nursery owner and manager with BA (Hons) in Education (early years) ensures that our nursery practitioners are supported as our number one resource. With continuous staff training and acknowledgment of their key role our practitioners are valued and therefore retained, this allows our nursery to build on knowledge and skills which enhance the children's learning environment. Many of our practitioners have ten years plus service. We are committed to creating a happy and caring atmosphere for our staff as well as our parents/carers and children. Being family orientated creates an holistic and rounded learning environment for children to enjoy and an enjoyable work place for our nursery practitioners.
We have been awarded the 'NHS Healthy Eating Award' and this shows our commitment to providing nutritionally balanced meals.
We realise that staff are our number one resource and therefore we are immensely proud of our staff retention record with the majority of staff having at least eight years service. Staff training, personal development and an awareness of a 'life-work balance' are vitally important to keep happy and enthusiastic staff who then are able to offer high quality care and education to all children at Harpers Nursery School.
